Supporting the instructional program, the Department of Instruction performs an array of services for the division:

• Designing professional development on the division's curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and assessing student achievement;
• Facilitating and guiding new program initiatives;
• Analyzing data to identify school, staff and student needs;
• Identifying and facilitating various professional development opportunities;
• Initiating and/or leading division-wide professional development efforts;
• Overseeing curriculum design;
• Organizing and supporting division-wide endeavors such as art exhibits, musical events, creative writing festivals, science and social studies fairs;
• Observing teachers and offering support and feedback;
• Reviewing instructional resources (books, videos, software, etc.) in order to determine which are appropriate for classroom use;
• Responding to requests for information and/or training.
